Work with a cross-functional technology team to manage existing programs and create new government business. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the government program manager will organize, manage and ensure successful and timely completion of deliverables on government R&D projects. In addition, the role will include support of business development efforts (CTO and Director of Devices) to generate proposals and win new projects.
Responsibilities and Skills
• Project management: create and manage project timelines/Gantt charts (e.g. MS Project); manage budget; ensure appropriate project resource levels (both internal and external);
• People management: indirect supervision of internal project team; direct oversight of external project resources (contractors, consultants, vendors)
• Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills (proposals, technical reports; phone calls, formal presentations, customer meetings)
• Contract administration: (read, understand, and manage to contractual obligations)
• Broad technical knowledge
• Ability to generate new ideas for projects (e.g. new applications of existing technology), and translate these ideas into detailed proposals
Experience
• PhD-level scientist or engineer with 3+ years experience required (EE, physics, materials science, chemistry preferred)
• 1+ years government program management experience required
• US Citizenship required. Existing security clearance highly desirable.

PhD in EE, physics, material science or chemistry
