Founded in August 2004, QD Vision is a nanotechnology product company delivering a new generation of display and lighting solutions to major industries where color, power and design matter. QD Vision's technology platform sets new standards for color purity, brightness, power consumption and design flexibility. Backed by a patent portfolio secured by the founders' research at MIT and continued developments at QD Vision, the company is targeting applications such as consumer electronics products, flat-panel displays, electronic signage, solid state lighting, and national security.

QD Vision has secured more than $20 million in private investment in its quest to harness the light-emitting qualities of a new class of nanomaterials called quantum dots. QD Vision's technology platform provides significant advantages over other display and lighting solutions such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), plasma displays, liquid crystal displays (LCDs), and organic light-emitting device (OLED) displays. It is currently being designed into consumer electronics products by industry leaders in cell phones, PCs and flat-panel displays.

Led by an experienced team of industry pioneers, QD Vision was formed around the thesis work of founders Seth Coe-Sullivan and Jonathen Steckel at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With support from MIT's Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation, Coe-Sullivan, Steckel and their founding partners, MIT Professor Vladimir Bulovic, Greg Moeller and Joseph Caruso, developed early proofs-of-concept and launched the company. Highland Capital Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners then provided initial funding. In 2007, QD Vision recruited Dr. Daniel Button as CEO. An executive with more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Button has launched and built materials-based businesses in the display industry and other global high-growth markets. QD Vision has since booked several million dollars' worth of work from government agencies and commercial design-in partners.
